9-day trip in and out of Broome

by Cathy C
(Melbourne)

We are meeting our Swiss friends in July. We fly into Broome and we are both renting adventure 4WDs, which take 4-5 people (we have kids 8-14 yrs). I have a vague itinerary:

How does this look? Is it too much, in your point of view? Our friends would like us to see the Bungle Bungles but the round trip (via Kununurra) seems too rushed.

They have 6 weeks, and will leave us on the Monday as we turn back to Broome. They will have time to see all this, plus take the Tanami to Uluru, etc... I chose Middle Lagoon so the kids could have the experience of snorkelling.
I look forward to hearing your opinion!

Danke schoen,
Cathy (Melbourne) xxx

Looking good

Hi Cathy,

WED: Tumblegoodiron on Yeeda Station is a lovely bush campsite just south of Willare Bridge, and there are also options out of the Willare Bridge rest area (page 98 in the full guide). Watch out for crocodiles in the river.

FRI: there is no camping at Tunnel Creek. You'll have to camp at Windjana. You could see both Tunnel Creek and Windjana on that day, or Windjana in the morning before driving to Bell Gorge, so you'd have a night to spare.

MON: the RAAF quarry (page 105) is closer to Fitzroy Crossing and used to be really nice. (Haven't used it last year but will check it early this season.)

No, this isn't too much at all. And now you have a night to spare as well. A round trip through Kununurra would indeed be very rushed, involve a lot of driving, and you'd have to skip Middle Lagoon. I think the kids will be MUCH happier with your schedule :-).

Thank you very much for your kind words, Cathy! I deleted them but I much appreciated them :-).
